Wednesday 1 - Myanmar
We give thanks to the Lord for the successful translation workshop for the Khumi Chin Old Testament project. The Khumi Chin is one of the ethnic minority groups of Myanmar. Please pray for the translator, reviewers and committee members as they are working on their first Old Testament. Pray that the work will go smoothly through various processes, including the checking of the books, and that the technology used will be trouble-free.
Thursday 2 - Singapore
Please pray for the Bible Engagement Ministry of the Singapore Bible Society. A workshop Walk Through the Old Testament, will be held on Saturday Pray for the staff organizing this event and for trainer, Rev Dr Peter Poon. Pray also for good attendance at this workshop.
Friday 3 - Malaysia
Please pray for the staff and volunteers of the Bible Society of Malaysia for a busy month ahead. They are preparing the Easter Scripture selection, targeting to mail them out to churches throughout Malaysia before the end of this month. Attempts are being made to get the Societys newsletter off the ground. We hope to get the first issue published before Easter. The Societys website is undergoing a complete revamp also pray that many will benefit from reading the Easter selection, and pray that the newsletter and website will be effective in raising the profile of the Society.
Saturday 4 - Australia (South Australia)
The Bike for Bibles 2006 Commonwealth Ride will commence today in Adelaide and finish on 12 March, just before the start of the Commonwealth Games. A team of over 30 participants from around Australia and one from the UK will ride to Melbourne along theGreat Ocean Road. The team is raising funds for the Bible Society in Zimbabwe. Please pray for safety, friendship and support along the way, for those feeding and housing the team, and for the projects awaiting funding in Zimbabwe.
Sunday 5 - Nepal
Checking of the Simple Nepali Holy Bible is in its last stages. Please pray that the CAP team will find all errors during the page layout, before the production of the Camera Ready Copy. We thank God for the production of trial copies of books of Ruth and Hosea in Tibetan. Please pray that we get feedback from our Tibetan readers on time so we can produce these two booklets for a wider distribution. Please continue to pray for the restoration of peace and prosperity in the kingdom of Nepal.
Monday 6 - Hong Kong
We are thankful to have a very dedicated accountancy team who devote their extra time and effort in preparing reports for the year-end closing. We pray to the Lord that the auditing of the accounts will go smoothly. Pray also for the production work of the New TestamentRevised Chinese Union Version. The production involves both traditional and simplified Chinese characters in different typesetting to serve different reading habits of Chinese Christians around the world.
Tuesday 7 - Bangladesh
Pray for the training session which will be held for the field workers for the Faith Comes by Hearing project, a joint program with Hosanna International that will be held 21-25 March. After this training, field workers will be introducing this new project. Pray that the Lord guides us during this time so that we may reach out to people who have not yet heard the Word of God.
Wednesday 8 - China
The Board of Amity Printing Company will have their Board meeting on 16-17 March. The Board meets twice a year to discuss on the matters relating to the Company. Pray for a fruitful time of discussion, and for wise decisions for the company, especially in regards to its future development and the construction in the new site.
Thursday 9 - Australia (Victoria)
The Commonwealth Games will be held in Melbourne from 13-26 March. Along with Quest, the Bible Society will be distributing a special edition of Marks Gospel, and a Sports New Testament in magazine format with testimonies from Christian sports people. These will be available to athletes, spectators and churches. Please pray for our staff and volunteers as they distribute these Gospels at popular shopping complexes and other venues during the Games.
Friday 10 - New Zealand
Praise God for the steady growth in the Bible Society Development Fund over the last 26 years. Give thanks for the many individuals who support Bible work through depositing with the Fund. Ask God for help in encouraging more people to support the Fund. Pray that the Lord will give the Fund Board wisdom and skill as they manage the investments in an efficient and profitable way.
Saturday 11 - Korea
The Korean Bible Society will soon be publishing the Easy Mixed Script Holy Bible with references, which has all words of the Korean translated text that can be transcribed with Chinese characters. Because a considerable portion is adopted from Chinese, we expect the publication of this Bible to be of significant help to the understanding of the Bible text. Please pray that the publication of this Bible will go smoothly.
Sunday 12 - India
Praise God for the volunteers who are helping in the areas of promotion, fundraising and Scripture engagement at our various Auxiliaries. Praise God for the successful completion of the recording of Oriya and Hindi Psalms Vol. IV and for the successful broadcasting of Radio Bible (Telugu) programme Nithya Vaakyamu. Pray for the exegetical checking of Kharia NT, and for the drafting of Yerukula Childrens Bible.
Monday 13 - Singapore
Please pray for the members of the Voices of Praise Choir as they prepare to stage a Concert for Bibles on 22 April. The choir will present an Easter Cantata, entitled Alive! Also pray for the planning committee, chaired by Mr Lawrence Ko and supported by staff member, Michael Lim, that they will be able to gather support and attendance for the concert. Pray for the chairman of the Voices of Praise, Mr Ong Keng Tian who is workingtirelessly to promote the concert. May the Lord guide him and strengthen him to do His work.
Tuesday 14 - Vietnam
Lisa Pham, Translation Officer who lives in the United States, had planned to visit Vietnam for exegetical checking of the Revised Vietnamese Bible, from 20-31 March. However, she has had a recurrence of sickness and she is now undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Please uphold Lisa and her family as they are going through this difficult time. May the Lord have mercy on her during the treatment.
Wednesday 15 - South Pacific
The Bible Society in the South Pacifics coordinator Solomon Islands, Mr David Day, is leaving the Bible Society and moving into politics. Please pray for Mr Jack Reuben, West Pacific Coordinator as he travels to the Solomons to see to the smooth transition of the operations there. Pray also for an able replacement for David.
Thursday 16 - Hong Kong
Pray for our first 2006 Board of Governors meeting to be held this evening. Thank the Lord that we continually enjoy religious freedom and stable economy in Hong Kong. However, many hearts are still hardened and ignoring Gods message. Pray for Gods guidance in the meeting, may all the deliberations and decisions made help people in this place accept the Word of Life.
Friday 17 - Australia (NSW)
Our Annual Celebration of Word and Song event will be held on 1 April in the Sydney Town Hall. This event is broadcast nationally on the Seven Network on Good Friday, and on the Australian Christian Channel and FM 103.2 on Easter Sunday. Marina Prior will be the featured performer in this years Easter presentation, made possible through her role as Goodwill Ambassador with Samaritans Purse, the international aid agency led by Franklin Graham. Please pray that once again this event will be a central point of peoples Easter preparation and worship.
Saturday 18 - Indonesia
Please pray for the translation workshop for the Salayar NT project conducted in 6-11 March. Salayar is located in South Sulawesi. The Christian population in this area is a minority. The church there, the Christian Church in South Sulawesi, is telling us that there has been a big longing among Salayar people to have Scriptures written in theirmother tongue. Please pray for the publication of Leijdeckers Voetspoor volumes 1 and 2, written by J.L Swellengrebel, which is being translated into Indonesian this month.
Sunday 19 - Thailand
Pray for the National Book Fair in Bangkok in which Thai Christian publishers jointly hold a sales booth of Christian books including Bibles. This gives a good chance for thousands of visitors to have access to the Good News for the period of ten days. Maythe Lord guide us and give us wisdom to accomplish all work in His glory, may he bless our untiring efforts to allow his kingdom to extend through our country.
Monday 20 - Japan
Praise God for the soon-coming Spring and the opportunity to celebrate new life. School year in Japan starts in April and ends in March. During this time, we distribute many Bibles to schools as graduation and entry gifts. Please pray that each of the students who hold the Bible will come to know the Blessed Word of God and learn how much God loves them.
Tuesday 21 - China
Thank God for the various on-going minority language Bible translation projects. Ask the Lord for his provision and help to move each translation project forward, taking big leaps towards completion. Pray for continuous support from the authorities for these projects.
Wednesday 22 - Papua New Guinea
Please pray for the Board members of the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea as they appoint a new Translation Coordinator. Pray that the new personnel will serve the Biblecause with diligence and devotion, and seek Gods blessing, vision and guidance. Pray for all translators and our partners, SIL, BTA and PBT, so that our work will become even more effective in the next 100 years, sowing seeds so that hearts and lives can be changed. Pray for enthusiasm and strength for our staff and board members as we implement our fund raising and strategy plan. Pray too for our AGM and for church leaders to encourage their members to engage with Gods Word.
Thursday 23 - Cambodia
Pray that God will work with the officials so that the permission for us to import Bibles will be granted. Please pray that the Bible we are going to import will touch the hearts of the Christians in Cambodia to seek and love God more.
Friday 24 - Thailand
Pray for the Annual General Meeting of the Thailand Bible Society, which we will combine with the launching ceremony of the newly revised Thai Pentateuch (the first five books of OT). After almost 20 years of hard work on the revision of the Thai OT, we rejoice that the first five books are now finished and ready to be launched. We pray that the OT in revised version will help the Thai people to understand the biblical message more clearly.
Saturday 25 - Taiwan
Pray for the efforts of the Bible Society of Taiwan in raising funds for the Chinese Union Study Bible project, which is scheduled to move ahead this month.
Sunday 26 - Pakistan
Pray for the Annual General Meeting of the Pakistan Bible Society which is scheduled this month. Also give thanks and praise to God that our audit is now completed successfully and all is done well.
Monday 27 - Philippines
We thank the Lord for four day evangelistic crusade through the Metro Manila Franklin Graham Festival last month at the historic Rizal Park in Manila. More than 30,000 committed their lives to the Lord as a result of this event. The Bible Society supported MMFGF by providing about 1.4 million copies of Scripture materials. Please pray for the churches who will follow-up these new believers, and that the event will result to personal revival among millions of Filipinos.
Tuesday 28 - Sri Lanka
Please pray for the Music Workshop series conducted by Barbara Isely, Sing a New Song to the Lord, to be held at the Bible House. Even as Barbara is eagerly preparing new songs for the workshop, may God use her to build the musical skills of the children and youth who will participate.
Wednesday 29 - Australia (Tasmania)
Please pray for Bible Society Tasmania as it seeks to appoint a Field Representative based in Hobart. This appointment is considered a key element in fulfilling the goal of increasing Bible Societys influence in, and support from, the southern region of Tasmania. Ask God to raise up a person with the appropriate gifts and a strong sense of His calling to this position.
Thursday 30 - South Pacific
The Bible Society in the South Pacific is currently translating the Lion Learning About series. Please pray for the successful completion of this new product. Also pray for the timely production of the Fijian diglot, which we hope to distribute during the Methodist Church Conference in August.
Friday 31 - Sri Lanka
Please pray for the work involved in copy editing of the Old Version Sinhala Bible (1938) and for accurate and timely completion of the work of the Revised New Version Sinhala Bible. Please pray for Chandrika and the team of volunteers to accomplish their task.
