The need
Around one million children attend public schools in NSW
and WA. Most of these young people never visit a church,
and many of them and their families have never seen or
read the Bible.
While the door to public schools remains open, Bible Society is making the most of the extraordinary opportunity School Scripture provides to give Aussie kids a personal encounter with God’s Word.
Making a difference
The Bible Society is making the most of the current
opportunity provided by Religious Education classes.
Your support allows us to reach out in these ways:
Bible distribution
Scripture teachers are desperate for Bibles for the children
they teach. In 2010, our initial target of distributing 10,000
‘Big Rescue’ Bibles for NSW primary school children
exploded to 70,000. In addition, 15,000 Youth Bibles were
provided for High Schools.
Children’s shows (NSW only)
Rick George and partners take their fun-filled presentation
with a powerful message about God’s Word into schools,
distributing Bibles and Memory Verse calendars.
"It was hard to get my kids to form an orderly line to
receive their Bibles today! I have NEVER seen my class
so excited!"
- Jenny Flower, Pennant Hills
We are grateful for your support throughout 2010.
"When
we give these children Bibles we are giving them a life-long
tool to know and love the Word,"
- says Scripture teacher Marguerite Martin. In 2011, we want to do it all again!
(Class Sets are available as texts for teachers in WA).
