Recently I was reading an article in the religious press on smuggling Bibles intoChina. Its a subject I have great difficulty in understanding, for as I write a group of Bible Society supporters are in Anhui province handing out 5,000 Bibles freelyto Christians with full government approval and in front of government officials. The printing press at Amity continues to produce more than 2 million Bibles a year for distribution and sale in China. These are complete Bibles, no bits missing, good quality, in pristine condition. Importantly, our Chinese brothers and sisters are able to read them without fear of reprisal. What a privilege to be part of this work on your behalf!
Towards the end of last year we held two information evenings, our AGM and our Thanksgiving Dinner. As we reported and reflected on the work of the past year we were amazed at what had been undertaken and achieved. Your support, in so many different ways, continues to ensure that the life changing Word of God is placed in hands where it is needed most. Lives really are being changed for eternity. One of our current goals is to place longer articles on the website, in order to keep you informed of all that is taking place around the world. If you do not have access to the web, please contact the office for a more extensive report on your area of interest.
We have also organised a number of mission trips, to actually see the work we support in progress. Some of these trips are for donors, others involve high school students raising funds, who then see the project in operation first hand. Being part of that complete process brings a new perspective and an enlivened commitment to helping those in need.
Our Celebration of Word and Song continues to build and grow in significance. It will be at the Sydney Town Hall on Saturday 1 April, and of course seen across the nation on television at Easter time. Dont miss out on being part of this fantastic presentation. May you know the reality of the risen Christ in your life this Easter.
