 Hope and Hygiene
Hope and Hygiene Along the Thai-Burma border, many poor families are struggling without ready access to even the most basic of human needs – sewerage, electricity, clothing or education. Churches are spread far and wide, and many children especially have never seen a Bible.
The Bible Society has decided to dedicate this year’sspecial project to help the children in this needy region, both physically and spiritually.
Our plan is to offer ‘hope and hygiene’ by distributing Bibles, along with hygiene packs containing products likesoap, toothpaste, and shampoo. We are excited to be able to offer some help with basic health needs, as well as access to the Bible in a language and format that they willbe able to understand. We are partnering with Global AidNetwork, which has extensive experience and distribution networks through the region.
As part of the launch of the 2006 special project, Logosdor has produced a DVD and special Zingzine magazine to help raise funds. We hope to reach a target of $22,500 through the year, so we can provide 1,500 children with a Bible and a hygiene pack.
According to Bible Society NSW Project Manager, Chris Melville – ‘The results of this project will be great. A child who had no access to the Bible or couldn’t afford a Bible will now own a Bible in a language and format that they willbe able to understand. They’ll also have some of their physical needs met through the hygiene packs. Each child will be taught about the importance of good hygiene – goodhealth – both physical and spiritual!’
