Jesus on the agenda in Canberra
Canberra has never seen anything like it. The ‘Jesus – All about life’ campaign brought unprecedented opportunities to put Jesus on the public agenda in the national capital. Developed by Bible Society NSW, a campaign of prime time television commercials, press, radio and bus ads promoted the message that Jesus was ‘all about life’!

165 churches were involved in the campaign, raising $165,000 for the ads. Canberra’s various media outlets offered a ‘two-for-one’ deal because it was supported by so many churches.

Here’s one response from a campaign worker ‘It has never been as easy to talk about Jesus as it was during ‘Jesus, all about life’. Everyone is aware of the campaign’.

In another move to better ‘connect with our culture’, Bible Society NSW commissioned a 40 page booklet and ran a series of seminars to coincide with the release of the movie, ‘The Da Vinci Code’. According to Communications Manager, Martin Johnson – ‘We saw the enormous amount of interest surrounding the film’s release as a wonderful opportunity to engage with people about the real story of how the Bible came to be put together. We also wanted to set out why we know that Jesus Christ is an actual historical figure who is also the Son of God’.

The Heart of Moses
Young Moses Eggmolesse is aged seven. He’s a member of God’s Gang in Western Australia. Moses was greatly moved when he heard about the Bibleless children throughout the world through reading his Zingzine Magazine. So he decided to embark on an amazing project, writing and illustrating his own Children’s Bible. It’s a 42 page masterpiece that took him many hours of perseverance and imagination to complete. He wrote to us and asked if Bible Society could make 50 copies and share them with children who don’t have a Bible of their own.

It was a true privilege to meet someone with such a strong desire to see the Word of God proliferate in our land and more importantly in our hearts. It’s my prayer that we’ll all have a heart like Moses, having a desire for every person on earth to have a Bible in a language and format they can understand and at a price they can afford. Sometimes it takes the no nonsense approach of a child to make us aware of how we need to act and believe that we are making a difference.
