In Celebration

The Bible Society’s Easter Celebration of Word and Song for 2006 rose to new standards of excellence and impact, with our featured artist, Marina Prior.

This year, ‘Celebration’ was staged at the Sydney Town Hall and broadcast around Australia on the Seven Network on Good Friday and FM103.2 on Easter Sunday. Adventist Media also sent the programme around the world via Satellite.

Once again, the moving story of Easter was told through the eyes of Peter, narrated by Graham Wade and Nick McKay. Neil Modra put in another stunning performance as Jesus. The combined churches choir, orchestra and Mark Quarmby on the Town Hall organ filled the magnificent building with a rich and powerful variety of Christian music, as the story of Easter was told from the Bible. Executive Director Martin Johnson, Musical director Steve Wyatt, producer Marcus Cheong, composer Ken Lai and stage director Andrew Filmer kept it all on track for a complex and compelling production.

Marina Prior’s performance of three items delighted the audiences and we are grateful to Leigh Brown from Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for organising her involvement. Marina is an ambassador for Samaritan’s Purse. Known as ‘Australia’s leading lady of theatre’, Marina is well known to Australian audiences and her polished professionalism has taken our annual Celebration of Word and Song to a new height.

Our thanks also go to the Seven Network, FM103.2, EIG Ansvar, Signs Publishing, Mr. Stainless, the Printing Department, Total Visual Solutions, Adventist Media and all of our hard working Bible Society staff for making this year’s ‘Celebration’ one of the most memorable ever.
