The Panoramic Bible
A special Bible has been published in Japan, commemorating 130 years of Bible work there. Called ‘The Panoramic Bible’, it’s aimed at deepening the reader's understanding of the Bible, by using pictures, photos, timelines and explanatory notes.

A new Interconfessional version of the Bible has also been produced, after a collaboration of the Catholic and Protestant churches in Japan. A special copy was presented to the Pope to mark the anniversary.

‘Young Soldier Day’

Every year, thousands of young Russian men embark on military service, often far away from family and friends. Many are posted to areas of conflict.

The Bible Society has decided to minister to these young men, first by providing Bibles to the libraries of military training schools. Members of Bible Society staff were also involved in a special church ministry to mark ‘Young Soldier Day’. Copies of the Scriptures were presented to 300 young recruits.

Bible Society Executive Director Anatoly Rudenko told them – ‘The first apostles were not only men of faith and prayer, they also showed endurance and a keen mind.’ There are plans now to present Bibles to naval recruits at the dedication of new warships in Vladivostok.

The Panoramic Bible
As Easter approached this year, Anna Sobol volunteered to lead the weekly ‘Parents’ Hour’ at her son’s school in Belarus.

She invited the Bible Society’s Project Manager Anatoly Greben as a special guest. He brought a gift for each child, a richly illustrated ABC book, containing Biblical texts, conveying the Christian message.

Mrs. Sobol says – ‘This was a precious gift for the excited children.’ The teachers also received copies of the book and responded as enthusiastically as the children.
