Mozambique Talking Bible

Pastor Jeremiash Chukela Moyanana is old – very old. He believes he’s 122, but admits he’s lost track of his age a few times.

His church has received 100 taped ‘talking Bibles’ thanks to Bible Society, and the opportunity to hear the Scriptures in their own Xitshwa language has brought many people to Pastor Jeremiash’s church. It’s now the largest it has ever been and many people have come to faith in Christ for the first time. Pastor Jeremiash says – ‘I’ve never seen anything like the “talking Bible” before. People are now living what they are hearing’.

Right: Pastor Jeremiash Moyanana – 122 years old!

A new direction in Chad

The Gulei New Testament has been launched in southern Chad. In an elaborate ceremony, four men brought the new translation into the heart of the crowd on a platform resembling a stretcher. According to the local chieftain, Tamita Djidingar – ‘With idolatry ravaging our region, only the Bible can lift the veil of spiritual blindness and take the Gulei people in a new direction down God’s pathway’.

Scripture in your inbox

Michael Songulashvili is a 22 year old IT graduate and is determined to do what he can to use technology to get God’s Word out to the world.

He’s launched a forum for discussing religious issues in the Russian Federation of Georgia. He’s emailed extracts from the gospel of Matthew to all his friends. Michael says – ‘For me, the most important passages of the Bible for Georgia are those that speak about Christian fellowship and unity – a community without division and hatred. If I can change the heart and mind of even one person, I will be happy.’
