Bible Society has been celebrating the launch of the new Revised Chinese Union Version of the New Testament with the Sydney Chinese Christian Churches Association (SCCCA) and members from the Hong Kong Bible Society.
Since 2000, United Bible Society has been revising the original Chinese Union version, basically keeping 85-90% of the text. It is the first revision in 86 years. The whole Bible with all 66 books is expected to be published in 2010.
The team visiting Sydney and Canberra included Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Bible Society Mary Leung, Rev Dr Chow Lien-hwa chief editor for the revision and Dr Joseph Hong translation consultant of the United Bible Societies. Over ten days the group visited many Chinese congregations, held public meetings and led study groups and met with members of the Chinese Christian community.
The visit helped to strengthen the relationship between Bible Society and the communities of Chinese Christian congregations, theological colleges and organisations throughout NSW.
