Dear Friends,

This year has flown by so quickly; I can't believe that we are already in Spring! It has been an absolutely sensational year for Bible Society as we continue to be engaged in many activities around the world. You will find reports on some of these endeavours in this edition of Bibles@work.

Overseas, we remain involved in providing resources for pastors in Ethiopia – helping equip them for the work of building up and encouraging local congregations to be able to read the Bible. Our partnership with African Enterprise is transforming lives ravaged by HIV/AIDS in the slums of Tanzania.

Closer to home, the JAAL campaign will be running across NSW and Western Australia. All the major denominations are involved, seeking to assist quiet Christians to speak about Jesus with their friends and neighbours. In August, a large contingent of Christians participated in the City2Surf Fun Run in Sydney. Each participant wore a t-shirt proudly sporting the JAAL logo, sparking many interesting conversations along the way.

I want to say a special thank you to all those who have supported the Society this year. 2009 has been a difficult year financially for many, yet people's continued generosity toward Bible Society’s Scripture distribution work has been a great encouragement. Our God is indeed a gracious provider and uses His people in that provision. Thank you for your prayers, finances and time. We are so privileged to be the recipients of your generosity, and our God is indeed greatly honoured and praised.
