Equipping the Church in Ethiopia

Biblical teaching by trained leaders is the single highest priority for the Church right now in Ethiopia. Churches are growing rapidly, but many have no trained leadership, leaving new Christians vulnerable to false teaching.

In addition, there are few Biblical study resources or other ministry tools available in Amharic – the language spoken by the majority of Ethiopians. Very few pastors would be able to afford such a resource library anyway.

Bible Society is working in partnership with SIM (Serving in Mission) to provide pastors with Bible study resources in their own language – a set of 39 books including an NIV Study Bible – to help them interpret and apply important Biblical truths for their congregations. The book sets are distributed at conferences helped throughout the country where pastors are trained in the use of the resources.

Pastors and evangelists in small towns and rural areas are the main beneficiaries of this project. As Pastor Kolala explains “I have longed for a study Bible for a long time, and I believe this Word will affect my life passionately and, in turn, affect my ministry.

Will you help equip pastors and evangelists with the resources that they need to strengthen and grow the Church in Ethiopia? Please send donate on line using your credit card at www.biblesocietynsw.com.au.
