What is a Bequest?
A Charitable Bequest (often called a Legacy) is a gift of personal property, money, shares, stock, bonds or personal possessions, owned by a person at the time of death, which is directed by the provisions of that person's Will to serve a religious, educational, political, or general social purpose, to benefit mankind, the community or a particular segment of it.
If you need to include a clause in a Will because you wish to include Bible Society NSW as a beneficiary, please find below some suggested wording.

1. If you wish to leave a sum of money to Bible Society NSW
I GIVE AND BEQUEATH free of all duties death, estate, succession or otherwise payable in consequence of my death the sum of $_____________ to the NSW Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society (ABN 4584 3211 237) , to be applied (for the general purposes thereof) OR (a specific purpose or item to be declared) and I DECLARE that the receipt of the Executive Director or other proper officer of the Bible Society NSW shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustee for the payment of the said sum and that my Trustee shall not be bound to see to the application thereof.
2. If you wish to leave part of your estate to Bible Society NSW
I direct my executors to divide the residue of my Estate, both real and personal, into ___________ equal shares and I GIVE AND BEQUEATH ____________ shares to the NSW Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society (ABN 4584 3211 237), to be applied (for the general purposes thereof) OR (a specific request) and I DECLARE that the receipt of the Executive Director or other proper officer of the Bible Society NSW shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustee for the payment of the said share and that my Trustee shall not be bound to see to the application thereof.
3. If you wish to leave specific property to Bible Society NSW
I GIVE AND BEQUEATH the following items of my property and effects: (describe these here)
to the NSW Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society (ABN 4584 3211 237), to be applied (for the general purposes thereof) OR (a specific purpose to be declared) and I DECLARE that the receipt of the Executive Director or other proper officer of the Bible Society NSW shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustee therefore and that my Trustee shall not be bound to see to the application thereof.
